Residential Design
Quite possibly our most dramatic transformation yet, we give major props to our clients who purchased this very lived-in home recognizing the potential of its bones and killer lot. There was a lot to see beyond at our initial walk-through (dated finishes, patterned 90’s wallpapers, a main-level nanny suite, and a whole lot of unique personality from its original owners) but the soul wasn’t going anywhere.
The original homeowners had made some courageous layout decisions when they initially built the home which translated beautifully into our reimagined floor plan. We opened things up for modern living, made a large master bedroom on the main level, and completely reimagined the kitchen layout and entry space. In spite of being built in the 1990’s, the home had undeniable mid-century energy which we lean upon for inspiration in both the styling and architectural details such as the slatted room divider in the entry.
We styled the home with a mixture of the client’s existing vintage pieces and new custom furniture (such as that white oak bed!) to create a warm, eclectic aesthetic perfect for this fun family. The lot itself is situated at the end of a private lane, surrounded by gardens, which inspired both the powder room wallpaper as well as the use of color throughout. Our trusting clients went all-in on the sunny yellow backsplash; a testament to the power of a great client-designer relationship.
